On a relatively quiet hillside in Naldehra , a small gang of local kids i’ve come to know quite well spend most afternoons getting up to various unsupervised hijinks.
On this particular Sunday, someone found a rusty old cycle in a pile of building material and it sparked an intense round of turn taking negotiations. What started out in a civil manner quickly devolved into anarchy (as most things usually do) and just as quickly as it began, the bicycle negotiations turned into the bicycle wars.
*PROCEEDS
Through photographing the children in the sleepy hillside community of Naldehra, I became aware of just how keen so many of the kids were to document their own lives. They took the camera from me and started shooting at every chance they got and actively pursued feedback. I quickly realised I had a gang of kids following me around every time I had my camera in hand and while a few of them just wanted to be in front of the lens, most of them wanted a chance to use the camera.
And so “A Story To Tell” was born - a photo education project to empower children in rural communities to document their lives and communities. All proceeds will go towards funding this small project.
